Miles came home very excited from school yesterday and pronounced that he had voted. Mom asked him who he voted for and he confidently stated, "John McCain". Then he went on to say that one of his friends in class also voted for John McCain because Barack Obama wanted to steal our money (Oh what great influence we have as parents). So Miles continued and with great concern asked, "Momma, is Obama going to steal our money?"

Insight from Halle
This weekend Halle wanted to sleep in our bed and after presenting reasons why this was a good idea I caved. As she nestled into bed I lay down with her to talk for a moment and I noticed she was crying. I asked what was wrong and she replied "I don't want to grow up." I think what she was saying was I don't want life to change. I love it exactly the way it is. I love my mom, dad, brothers and God and there is nothing more in life that could make it better than it is now. Isn't that odd? My mind always says, "Things could be better if...." or "If this and this happens all will be well." Maybe I should take a few notes on all the good that surrounds me.

Halle had a great birthday party with all her friends. They went swimming and played outside on the swing set. Dinner was Mom's famous sausage bread...soooo good. All the girls slept in the living room and it took them about an hour to finally agree on a movie to watch. They stayed up until about 12:30am and were up at the crack of dawn. Halle has such good friends...she loves them all.

Spades
I don't know if Tammy and I dominated because we are better card players or because David was tired, or on pain meds, or something. Click to enlarge picture and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Luke's birthday is July 25th and he has been talking about it for a month. He says, "It's my birthday? I get superman box?
Luke is our youngest and is our biggest baby yet. These are the things he likes:
Superheros - Superman, Spiderman, and Batman are his favorites.
Lightening McQueen - He prays for Lighting most nights.
Riding in the back of Dad's truck, as you can see in the picture.
Grandma - "Go to Grandma's house today?" He asks this about every day.
Target - he asks to go to Target about every day as well. I think it is because every time he goes with Grandma he gets a toy.
Mother Day Out - he loves going to "School"
Swimming
Soft Blankets - He has to have one of his two soft blankets to sleep with at night.
So what does Luke not like?
Sharing
Also, he does not like any negative words or emotions directed his way, like...no, don't do that, stop, can't, or a furled brow etc...especially when this is said by someone other than mom or dad. He usually breaks down and cries. I think it hurts his feelings.

Camping in Hinton
This past Friday Halle, Miles, and I went camping in Hinton, OK with some friends from our Sunday School class. Those on the trip were:
Andy, Caroline, and Hudson Crum
Richard, Dillon, and Kathrine Wilson
Matt and Jake Pryor
Jeff and Andrew Crain
We arrived just in time for burgers and the roasting of smores, a delicious treat. Kids played and dad set up the tent which went surprisingly smooth. Then bedtime came. Halle and Miles slept well and played well together all night.
In the morning Halle and I woke up around 6:15 and were fishing by 6:30. The fish were biting and we were having a great time. We caught a humongous catfish that we fought for about 5 minutes before it eventually broke the line.
I little bit latter everyone else was up so Richard cooked breakfast and we filled our bellies. Then back to the fishing hole. Halle caught her first fish and did a great job reeling it in. Then a bit latter we caught a catfish that swallowed the hook. As I was trying to get the hook out Halle said, "Dad, the fish is bleeding." I looked down and saw that the guts of the fish were hanging out of its belly. I'm not use to handling fish so I guess I was a bit nervous holding onto the slimy sucker and squeezed him a bit harder than I should have.
After that we went hiking through trails and climbing on rocks. It was a beautiful place. Lunch came soon after and then we headed back home.
